What You’ll Work On
At PhonePe, you won’t just be writing backend APIs — you’ll help architect robust, scalable, high-performance systems from the ground up.
Your responsibilities:
- Design & build web-based backend applications with reusability and scalability
- Develop modular abstractions and contracts for broader platforms
- Solve high-level technical and business problems in fast-paced environments
- Work on large-scale distributed systems, ensuring performance & stability
- Break down execution plans and collaborate across teams to drive outcomes
- Mentor juniors, review code, and contribute to architecture discussions
- Partner with product managers to build features that delight users
Who Should Apply?
- You have a B.Tech / M.Tech / Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field
- Solid problem-solving mindset and love for clean, efficient code
- Strong command over at least one programming language (Java, C++, etc.)
- Experience working on Linux-based systems and understanding of system-level programming
- Hands-on experience with MySQL, and optionally NoSQL databases like HBase, Elasticsearch, Aerospike
- Knowledge of multi-threading, concurrency, object-oriented design, and TDD (Test Driven Development)
- Experience in building scalable business applications is a huge plus
- Self-starter attitude and hunger to build meaningful products used at massive scale
Tech Stack
- Languages: Java, C++, Go (any one required)
- Databases: MySQL, HBase, Elasticsearch, Aerospike
- Tools: Git, Jenkins, TDD frameworks
- Concepts: Multi-threading, concurrency, distributed systems, object-oriented design
