About the Role: Machine Learning Engineer (T25)

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll contribute to the Product Knowledge team’s mission of building and scaling intelligent data systems. This role blends software engineering, data engineering, and applied machine learning to solve complex, high-scale problems.

  • Location: Bengaluru, India
  • Work Mode: Hybrid
  • Team: Product Knowledge
  • Experience Required: 2+ Years

What You’ll Do

  • Build robust, high-performance ML pipelines that process billions of product-related data points.
  • Develop real-time services for Search and Information Retrieval (IR) over datasets with hundreds of millions of entries.
  • Design clean, scalable APIs and connect data infrastructure with customer-facing systems.
  • Collaborate with product managers and peers to define scope and technical strategy.
  • Design and execute A/B experiments in production environments to measure real-world impact.
  • Drive cross-functional technical efforts and share knowledge across teams.
  • Continuously learn and apply the latest in data science, distributed systems, and AI.

What eBay is Looking For

✅ Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years in software engineering or ML pipeline development.
  • Strong foundation in DSA, OOP, Software Design, and Core Statistics.
  • Proficiency in Java, plus experience in Python or Scala.
  • Experience working with Hadoop, Spark, or other Big Data ecosystems.
  • Ability to write production-grade, clean, maintainable code.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

➕ Bonus Skills:

  • Experience building data-driven backend systems.
  • Familiarity with large-scale recommendation systems or search platforms.
  • Interest in product knowledge graphs or ecommerce search optimization.
